Hey everyone,

I hope your 2023 was happy, safe, and full of good books! Mine went by far too quickly…

If you’re new to my site, welcome! For the long-time subscribers, you might notice a fairly drastic change in the look of the site. It was long overdue for a visual update, and I hit my first author goal of 2024 with this re-launch. (Exciting!)

The new design is minimalist. The focus is ease of navigation and speed, especially on mobile devices. Does this run counter to the current landscape of video-driven social media? Perhaps. But this isn’t TikTok, it’s my author site. I figure if you’ve stumbled into my tiny piece of the internet, you enjoy reading words, so they are now front-and-center. You can still follow me on Twitter, or X, or whatever it’s called now, for social media fun. Better yet, subscribe to my email list to enjoy direct periodic updates that Elon Musk cannot snoop on!

Site content is going to evolve, and also return to its roots, paradoxically. My non-writing life has been quite busy through these bizarre post-pandemic years, and while I was able to post sporadically in 2023, I wasn’t happy with my overall output compared to years past. For 2024 I buckled down and resurrected my content calendar, and you’ll be seeing three distinct sorts of “classic” posts.

• Bookish news and long-form opinion pieces
• Bookish lists (I don’t know why y’all love listicles, but you do!)
• Book reviews (as time and my TBR pile allow)
• I’ll also be opening the blog periodically for guest posts, so if you’ve got an idea, please, feel free to pitch it!

So by now you may be asking “Yeah, but what the heck have you written in the past 24 months?” Well, I have had a few short stories published, which will be made available here soon, and my next novel is forthcoming this year. Edits are complete and it’s getting the finishing touches as you read this. More on that in the coming months.

I’m looking forward to a renewed focus on writing in 2024 after a bumpy couple of years. A big thank you to my writer’s group who keeps me accountable, as well as my family and friends for checking in by randomly asking “Hey, are you still writing?” I’m also looking forward to interacting with you all, and any new blog friends we find along the way.
